RIP, Robert Conquest.

He was 98. “Conquest was a pioneering figure in documenting the reality of Soviet rule.” He always warned about repeating mistakes of the past. Of course, in their editorials, liberal elites criticized him for exaggerating the facts. He was vindicated in 1990s when, for a short time, Russian KGB archives were released. Here’s an anecdote about him – may be not true but fits him well. “When his history of Stalin’s purges, The Great Terror, was republished after the fall of communism, his American publisher asked him to suggest a new title. He came up with one – “I told you so, you f**king fools”. Click here
